An interactive installation for the 8th Avenue lobby at the Google NYC office. It consists of 5880 off-the-shelf arcade buttons that act as pixels. The piece is both an ambient "Google" sign and an interactive multi-user experience where each button press causes the sign to react. We created 15 different designs that cycle over the course of the day, each with their own visual aesthetic, typography and interactivity.
We published the full hardware and software stack as the AnyPixel.js library, so that anyone can create web-based unusual, interactive displays out of all kinds of things. Anyone can fork the code and the schematics to create their own display at any scale.
